Educational Qualification

• Law degree from a recognized university

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in handling court cases and legal matters

• Experience in matters related to Trade Marks and Geographical Indications

Age Limit

• General / EWS: Maximum 30 years
• OBC: Maximum 33 years
• SC / ST: Maximum 35 years
• PwBD: Maximum 40 years

Age Relaxation:

• Ex-Servicemen & Commissioned Officers: Up to 5 years
• Central / U.T. Government Employees: Up to 5 years (10 years for SC/ST, 8 years for OBC)
• PwBD Candidates: 10 years (up to 15 years for SC/ST PwBD, 13 years for OBC PwBD; overall maximum age limit is 56 years)

Salary/Pay Scale

As per the 7th CPC pay structure, the UPSC Law Officer post comes under Pay Level 07, with a basic salary starting from ₹44,900 and going up to ₹1,42,400.

Duties

The Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications is responsible for performing quasi-judicial functions as prescribed under intellectual property laws. Under the direction of the Registrar, the examiner examines applications, studies responses filed by applicants, and carries out other related administrative or quasi-judicial work when required.
